Over VND 3.1 billion raised for Children of Vietnam Charity Fund at Passionate Kiss at Moulin Rouge Charity Ball

On the evening of 2nd June 2012, the Children of Vietnam Charity Fund (COV), which was jointly established by FV Hospital and Thanh Nien Newspaper, hosted the charity ball Passionate Kiss at Moulin Rouge at Sheraton Hotel, District 1, HCMC.

The fund’s founders attended the event: Dr. Jean Marcel Guillon, CEO of FV Hospital; Journalist Nguyen Cong Khe, the Chairman and General Director of Thanh Nien Media Group; Ms. Nguyen Thi Le Thu, Marketing and Business Development Director of FV Hospital and concurrently the Chairman of the Fund; and Ms. Le Phi Phung, the Director of the Fund. Other guests included artists such as Kim Khanh, Hien Mai, model Quanh Di, Thanh Hoai and many Vietnamese and international business men and women.

Underpinned by the concept “Do good things while having a good time,” the charity ball night Passionate Kiss at Moulin Rouge brought a French banquet and cabaret to HCMC. All guests wore magnificent costumes decorated with feathers and enjoyed a glittering performance by a troupe of cancan dancers, fantastic music, good wines and delicious dishes. At this luxury banquet, the guests did not forget the main reason for the party – to support underprivileged children – and gave generously in the form of direct sponsorships or donations, or by bidding for charity items, which included a photo of French photographer Alex Garel, the oil painting “Sea at Mui Ne” by painter To Minh and an ao dai (long dress) embellished with over 3,000 Swarovski crystals by designer Si Hoang.

At this ball, Mr. Pham Trung Cang, Vice Chairman of Eximbank, committed to donate VND 2 billion to the Children of Vietnam Charitable Fund. Other sponsors also made strong commitments to contribute: FV Hospital gave VND 105 million; Mylan Group, VND 105 million; Thanh Nien Media Group, VND 100 million; Vinasun, VND 150 million; Orphan Voice Da Nang, VND 62.5 million; Southern Bank, VND 50 million; Gau Do Noodles, VND 42 million; Ba Con Co, VND 42 million; La Vie, VND 42 million; Vinh Hung Long, VND 42 million; Phuoc Thinh Textiles, VND 41.7 million; and Kinh Do, VND 25.2 million. Additionally, many individual sponsors who attended the charity ball also made contributions of over VND 1 million and services and products were received from Alibi and AR Group (Eyewear Plaza), among other companies.

Journalist, Chairman and General Director of Thanh Nien Media Group, Nguyen Cong Khe, who is also a co-founder of the COV fund, said: “From the fund’s inauguration to now, the Children of Vietnam Charitable Fund has helped more than 131 children to enjoy free surgeries and treatments, each of which has ranged from USD 2,000 to USD 15,000 per case. In the year 2011 alone, the fund helped 37 disadvantaged children undergo treatment and the total amount spent on treatment for impoverished children is VND 2.3 billion to date.

“This year, thanks to generous donations from big sponsors such as Eximbank and other enterprises, our larger budget will enable the fund to organise more charity medical trips to help more children in unprivileged circumstances in provinces and cities nationwide.”

Dr. Jean- Marcel Guillon, FVH’s CEO and the Vice Chairman of the fund also shared his thoughts. “FV Hospital is dedicated to providing financial support and personnel to ensure the effective operation of the fund, which will mean that more children will benefit from free surgeries and treatments so that they can enjoy a normal life. Fundraising events such as this charity ball will be held annually, and we hope that we can look forward to receiving more interest in and support for our activities from you, our honourable sponsors, in the future.”

The total raised from ticket sales, sponsorships and the charity auction is over VND 3,153,248,400. This sum will be used to finance surgeries and treatment for disadvantaged children suffered from congenital deformities and disabilities caused by accidents.

When sharing her joy at the success of the charity ball, Ms. Le Phi Phung, the Fund’s Director, said at the end of the evening: “It is your wish to do good things that has brought you here, to the Moulin Rouge charity ball. It is your warm hearts that have given hope to underprivileged children and helped them to receive treatments so that they can return to live a normal and healthy life.

“On behalf of the fund, I would like to express my deepest thanks to all of our honourable sponsors: Thanh Nien Media Group, FV Hospital, Eximbank, Vinasun, Southern Bank, Phuoc Thinh Textile, MyLan Group, La Vie, Gau Do Noodle, Turkish Airlines, Sheraton, Vinh Hung Long and all of the other organisations and individual sponsors that have contributed to the success of the ball. In the coming time, the Children of Vietnam Charitable Fund will hold more fantastic events where you can enjoyable a glamorous night out, make more friends and offer to help even more disadvantaged children.”
