Who do we help?

Cases already supported

Launched in June 2006, the Children of Vietnam Fund, co-organised by FV Hospital and the Thanh Nien newspaper, has gathered together more than five hundred million Vietnam dollars for operations on thirty-six children with congenital deformities or those who were suffering from the effects of serious accidents. Vietnamese and French surgeons coming from prestigious hospitals around the world have given their time and expertise to the Children of Vietnam Fund. All thirty-six operations were successful and the children could return to normal life. Several of these children come from places such as the Peace Village of Tu Du Hospital or the Tam Binh Children's Shelter Centre. We have been able to locate many others all over Vietnam, mainly from very poor families, in very diverse areas such as Da Nang, Phu Yen, Binh Thuan, Ho Chi Minh City, Long An and Tra Vinh. Recently, we have mainly focused on the Mekong Delta where there are many handicapped children awaiting surgery. For example, we have undertaken successful work in Ben Tre province where we have given medical consultations to more than three hundred children. More than forty of them are in great need of your help.

Significant arm dysfunction
This patient was brought to us by a Christian church in Dong Nai Province. The only daughter of two teachers, her mother wanted the operation so function could be fully restored and writing and schoolwork would be possible like any other child.

Case 50: Le Thi Thu Thao

Severe burns
When very young, this girl was caught by a household fire when left alone while her parents went to work in Cambodia. Her left arm could not be raised any more. She was even selling lottery tickets after school in order to bring a little bit more income to her family.

Case 51: Ha Thi Ngoc Huyen

Fingers attached
Raised in a poor region in Ben Tre province, the problems greatly reduced her handling capability. Helped and supported by Mr Huynh Van Hai and his wife, MrsTruong Thi Mai,  owners of a restaurant in Binh Duong.
